Nice Guys, Small Time
Both partners are great guys personally, but their investment vision matches the small-timeness of the Portland angel investor community in general. The biggest problem with taking money from "VCs" with a $1M fund is that they can't do anything to help you raise your next round from "real" VCs. If anything, it may hamper your ability to do so because real VCs will perceive the fact that such a small fund invested in your deal as a reason your business potential is small-time. They don't seem to have the respect of later-stage funds or the deep contacts there.
