Burned Their Fingers During the Dot Com Boom
Peppermints roots are in corporate financing - basically snatching up industrial producers like carpet makers as well as some lifescience companies. During the Dot-Com Boom they thought they should also expand into IT & Internet technology. Which proved to be a mistake - they had little expertise and pretty much screwed it up... Now they seem to be back in industrial production and life science.
