They Were Just Too Slow for us
Great team with deep industry background, tech savvy and seem to be founder friendly. Our contact was pretty responsive but they moved at a slower pace through the due diligence. It was unfortunate that they couldn't keep pace with our timeline so we had to pass. The diligence process was pretty robust and most of the team seemed well versed with our industry. Looks like they take long to make the final decision [or it might be just our deal]. Overall, I will recommend the firm to enterprise software founders.

Worth a Case Study
So far, Talis has been an amazing investor to work with.
I still remember our first check-up call with another founder ("If you can get them, get them, they're amazing") and being a bit sceptical afterwards. They position themselves as very founder-supportive and actually strike a good balance between challenging you and supporting you in your strategy. Most importantly, they respect different opinions and will not unreasonably push if it's not a critical topic.
While they invest across industries, they analyse markets in-depth before investing. In our case, they have organised an entire event to bring digital players in the market together and positioned us at the centre. They are one of the few investors that have actually provided us with valuable industry-introductions and public relations support. On top, they care about their founders, make sure to check-in regularly, provide small gestures of appreciation and encourage you to think big.
We have recommended them to other founders and will continue to do so.

We work directly with the principles of Talis vs part of the fund at this stage - so I can only speak to that. So far, whilst in our infancy, this has been a great relationship. I trust them as investors, and I appreciate the "no bullshit" communication. They appreciate this is not an easy ride and provide support when we need it now, and I trust when we need it in the future.

Provided Me with a BOOST of Confidence
I got in touch with Talis through their office hour. I applied because I wanted to bounce ideas and get feedback on my startup.
The application process was great cause it got me thinking about many aspects of my business. Explaining to a VC is a great exercise to clear your mind and be more on point with what you want to say.
I was very excited that The BD School was selected for this call and it was great speaking with Matthew. He gave me so many ideas, I didn't feel "judged" which is something I feared before I started talking to VCs. You know, you always feel under pressure when you talk to investors because somehow we all think we need to be perfect and that maybe they won't think what we're doing has value.
But when I spoke with Matthew I found someone like-minded, positive, and open. I felt really at ease and because of that, the session was great. Matthew gave us some great ideas and feedback. Many of the things he said validated what we've been working so far and that was a great boost to our motivation and confidence. After the call, I immediately went back to the team proposing new things and can't wait to see us grow!

Talis has been a very interesting investor to work with, hands-down they were the fastest investor, from first meeting to money in the bank in just 5 weeks. The team is excellent and tries to add real value to the company. Attend Office Hours
We were fortunate to meet with Beatrice and Ellie during one of the office hours, made available to early stage founders like us. Raising Capital and Marketing were the two concerns that we wanted to discuss. The 20min session was efficient and productive and the advise provided by both ladies were spot on and it demonstrated their wealth of experience. The follow up emails from both ladies also included very useful leads and information. They also provided useful feedback on how to improve our Pitch Deck, which they promised to share with key investors who had shown interest in our Industry. This was a great service that I will recommend to other founders.

Company Saver
Tom @ Talis showed up at the right moment and offered to make some crucial introductions right when my company needed them most.
A friend of mine, who is the founder of a company, where Talis has invested in several rounds, highly recommended Talis Capital.
He introduced me to Tom Williams and we had a very good introductory call in Q3 2019. We agreed to meet on a trip that Tom was planning to Southeast Asia in early 2020 in time for our fundraising that was planned for Q2 2020.
Starting February/March 2020, we were hit by COVID-19 and entered full crisis mode. I assumed Tom's trip would not happen and was very surprised when out of the blue he sent me a message and suggested to meet.
At the time, revenues and cash flow were declining fast and I had a very open discussion with Tom about our situation. While this was clearly not the right moment for Talis to invest, he volunteered to make a few introductions to investors that might still be interested to invest despite of the quickly deteriorating COVID-19 situation.
I did not really expect to hear back anytime soon, but within days Tom introduced me to several leading local early stage investors that wanted to meet and were willing to do initial due diligence work. One of these ended up investing which together with our operational turnaround has us back in growth mode since late April.
